Coach With the Capitals 2026–27 Season

Are you passionate about Cheyenne Capitals hockey? Want to share the game with the next generation? Excited to help develop players at all levels? We're looking for volunteer coaches to join our youth hockey program.

You don't need to have a player in the CCYHA program to coach with us. We're looking for passionate individuals with hockey experience who can help our players grow on and off the ice. Coaches are instrumental in developing players' skills, sportsmanship, and love of the game and the time you invest matters far beyond the scoresheet.

Levels we're staffing: Mites, Squirts, Peewees, Bantams, High School (Varsity and JV), and Girls.

Roles available:

• Age Director leads a unified vision across multiple teams within an age group, sets team goals, and coordinates with assistants on coaching instruction and roster decisions
• Head Coach leads a single team's practices, games, and player development
• Assistant Coach supports the head coach on the bench, in practice, and in player development
• Practice-only Coach helps run practices without traveling to games (especially welcome at the younger levels)

A note on travel: Our teams travel throughout Wyoming and Northern Colorado depending on level. Coaches must be willing to travel with the team, or if applying as a practice-only coach let us know up front. The application includes a question about your travel availability so we can plan accordingly.

How applications are reviewed

The CCYHA Coaching Committee and Coach-in-Chief review all applications. Age Directors and Head Coaches are confirmed by the Coaching Committee and Coach-in-Chief; assistant coach assignments follow.

3. Complete SafeSport training.

4. Complete USA Hockey coaching level certification.
